Who is Kim Klyberg?

I am a sassy 44 year old gal originally from Lincoln, R.I. and have been living in Washington, D.C. since 1990. I still support the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots but I have adopted the Washington Capitals as my hockey team.

In my professional life I am currently the Meetings Assistant for the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The association hosts a multidisciplinary science annual meeting in different cities around the U.S. Attendees include researchers, academics, science-policy makers and students. We also have some activities for the general public. I assist our team of five people on a variety of tasks leading up to and during the meeting including:

  • Updating content for the Annual Meetings website
  • Writing and posting Facebook and Twitter content about the meeting
  • Working with in-house art director to create ads about the meeting for Science magazine
  • Coordinating the Student Poster Competition at the meeting.

This Spring I started a certificate course in Digital Media Skills at The American University. I hope to use the certificate as a launch pad for new career adventures where I can use my experience and training in communications and event planning.
